There are a few risks linked with watchman implantation, like with any procedure:
- Accidental heart puncture
- Air embolism
- Allergic reaction
- AV fistula
- Bleeding or throat pain from TEE probe
- Bruising at the catheter site
- Clot formation on the Watchman closure device
- Excessive bleeding
- Pneumonia
- Pneumothorax
- Renal failure
- Thrombosis and TIA ( Transient ischaemic attack )
