  • SUTAB (sodium sulfate, magnesium sulfate, and potassium chloride) tablets is an orally administered laxative and are provided as two bottles, each containing 12 tablets. 


**Important** Please understand this is a medical procedure that requires anesthesia. Wait times may vary

dependent upon procedures scheduled that day. We want you to be very satisfied and give you the best

care. However, there are times when we have no control over the Endoscopy Lab schedule, and you may be

delayed due to an emergency or an unforeseen event. We will make every attempt to keep you informed.

Please bring a book or something to occupy you while you are waiting.


7 DAYS PRIOR

  • STOP Adipex (Phentermine) 1 week prior to your procedure. Not stopping this medication will result in cancellation.
  • If you are taking a GLP 1 medication (commonly used for diabetics or weight management), you will need
    to stop this medication 1 week prior to your procedure. Not stopping this medication will result in
    cancellation.

  • You will need to hold blood thinners prior to your procedure. The length of time to stop your medication depends on the drug you are taking (2-7 days prior). Please discuss with your prescribing doctor.

  • Arrange a ride. You will need a responsible adult to accompany you as your driver. If you do not have a driver, your procedure may be canceled.


3 DAYS PRIOR

  • STOP 3 DAYS PRIOR consuming all high fiber foods/roughage. • NO raw vegetables • NO corn (raw or
    cooked) • NO whole wheat or high fiber breads • NO nuts or popcorn • NO bran or bulking agents


2 DAYS PRIOR

  • DO NOT EAT SOLID FOODS STARTING WHEN YOU WAKE UP (ALL DAY)
  • LIQUID DIET ▪ Milkshakes ▪ Pudding ▪ Popsicles ▪ Juices with pulp ▪ Plain ice cream, frozen yogurt, and
    sherbet ▪ Boost, Ensure, Premier Protein, and other liquid supplements ▪ Soup broth


Instructions for the Entire Day BEFORE Your Procedure (Colonoscopy)


Clear Liquid Diet Instructions: YOU MUST FOLLOW THIS THE ENTIRE DAY


You may have clear soft drinks, weak coffee (no milk or creamer), water, Gatorade, Propel, clear strained fruit juices (apple or white grape), Kool-Aid, sodas, clear broth or bouillon, plain Jell-O (NO bits of fruit, seeds, or nuts), popsicles or any liquid you can hold up to light and see through.

*NO APPLESAUCE, NO PUDDING, NO BREAD, NO FRUIT*

*No RED or PURPLE (natural or artificial color)*

*NO DAIRY products, NO ALCOHOL, NO MEAT, NO SOLID FOODS*


SUTAB Prep Instructions:

DO NOT FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS ON THE BOX

6:00 PM – 7:00 PM – Take all 12 tablets in bottle 1.

- DO NOT take all at once. Use the full hour. (Ex: take 2 at a time about 10 minutes apart until gone.)

- You must drink ONLY water during the hour you are taking the pills. Drink at least 2 full cups of water, but more is fine.

- Afterwards, please drink at least 2 full cups of anything you’d like from the Clear Liquid Diet above before you start the next bottle of pills.


*Drink as much fluids as possible*

10:00 PM – 11:00 PM – Repeat all instructions with bottle 2
