care. However, there are times when we have no control over the Endoscopy Lab schedule, and you may be
delayed due to an emergency or an unforeseen event. We will make every attempt to keep you informed.
Please bring a book or something to occupy you while you are waiting.
7 DAYS PRIOR
- STOP Adipex (Phentermine) 1 week prior to your procedure. Not stopping this medication will result in cancellation.
- If you are taking a GLP 1 medication (commonly used for diabetics or weight management), you will need
to stop this medication 1 week prior to your procedure. Not stopping this medication will result in

3 DAYS PRIOR
- STOP 3 DAYS PRIOR consuming all high fiber foods/roughage. • NO raw vegetables • NO corn (raw or
cooked) • NO whole wheat or high fiber breads • NO nuts or popcorn • NO bran or bulking agents
2 DAYS PRIOR
- DO NOT EAT SOLID FOODS STARTING WHEN YOU WAKE UP (ALL DAY)
- LIQUID DIET ▪ Milkshakes ▪ Pudding ▪ Popsicles ▪ Juices with pulp ▪ Plain ice cream, frozen yogurt, and
sherbet ▪ Boost, Ensure, Premier Protein, and other liquid supplements ▪ Soup broth
Instructions for the Entire Day BEFORE Your Procedure (Colonoscopy)
Clear Liquid Diet Instructions: YOU MUST FOLLOW THIS THE ENTIRE DAY
You may have clear soft drinks, weak coffee (no milk or creamer), water, Gatorade, Propel, clear strained fruit juices (apple or white grape), Kool-Aid, clear broth or bouillon, plain Jell-O (NO bits of fruit, seeds, or nuts), popsicles or any liquid you can hold up to light and see through.
*NO APPLESAUCE, NO PUDDING, NO BREAD, NO FRUIT*
*No RED or PURPLE (natural or artificial color)*
*NO DAIRY products, NO ALCOHOL, NO MEAT, NO SOLID FOODS*
GOLYTELY Prep Instructions:
- Do not mix solution until the morning you are prepping for your procedure.
- Fill the jug with water and shake it well.
- Place it in the refrigerator to chill to make it easier to tolerate.
(You may add some flavoring powder to it for taste as long as it is NOT red or purple. Ex: Crystal Light)
2:00 PM - Begin drinking prep. Drink 8 oz every 30 minutes until gone.
(This is not an exact amount. You may drink more or less, depending on how you tolerate the taste. Just remember to get it all down, slow and steady, by midnight.)
