Transesophageal Echocardiogram (TEE) preparation instructions

• You may not eat or drink anything 8 (eight) hours before the procedure. 
• Take medications as prescribed with small sips of water unless otherwise directed by your doctor. 
• Please reach out to the ordering provider of the TEE with any medication-related questions. 
• If you are taking a medication that contains Semaglutide (Ozempic/Wegovy etc.) or any other injectable weight loss drug please call department for addtional instructions. 
• No alcohol, Marijuana or illicit substances the day of the exam
• You cannot drive yourself to and from the procedure. 
• Please plan accordingly to have a ride each way. 
• Wear loose comfortable fitting clothing. 
• You will receive a call from one of the nurses approximately two days prior to the procedure to review these instructions.
