Welcome to your detailed guide on obtaining a free phone and service plan! If you're a recipient of Medicaid, you likely qualify for significant discounts on phone and internet services. This guide is designed to help you navigate through the Lifeline program—a federal initiative that provides reduced-cost phone service to eligible households.

Let's get started on your journey towards staying connected with affordable and reliable phone service!

Step 1: Verify Lifeline Eligibility

Lifeline, a federal initiative, is dedicated to making phone and internet services more accessible and affordable for low-income families. Through this program, eligible households can receive monthly discounts of up to $9.25 ($34.25 on tribal lands), ensuring that essential communication services remain within reach for all.

Step 4: Remember to Use Your New Phone Once Per Month

It's important to remember that you need to use your new phone at least one time per month (for a call, text, or internet search). If you fail to do so, your service may be terminated.

Step 5: Re-certify Every Year

Don't forget to re-certify your Lifeline eligibility every year. You should receive a letter of notification from your service provider a few months before re-certification is needed.
