IBD can cause complications in other parts of the body, known as extraintestinal manifestation (EIM). Between 25 and 40% of IBD patients experience EIM. IBD patients, for instance, may experience bone loss, rheumatoid arthritis, skin issues, eye inflammation, and liver and kidney diseases. Arthritis is the most frequent consequence outside the intestines. Skin, joint, and eye issues frequently occur concurrently.
