Risk factors that increase the chance of developing lung cancer are:
- Tobacco smoke
- Radon
- Air pollution
- Family or personal history of lung cancer.
- Asbestos and other carcinogens
- Radiation therapy
- Age 65 and older
- History of lung disease
- Diet- Arsenic in drinking water from private sources, e.g., wells, can increase lung cancer risk; this water should be tested
