Yes! 1 out of every 225 people have IBD. Medications and/or surgery will help keep IBD in remission. Whilst life expectancy has increased among people with IBD, a gap in life expectancy between those with and without IBD remains, and the effect of pain on daily functioning contributes substantially to reduced health-adjusted life expectancy.
