Individuals who are at risk for serious illness and should take extra precautionary measures such as following the basic precautions like washing hands with soap and water or using an alcohol-based hand sanitizer, cover your sneezes with a tissue or elbow and avoiding attending public gatherings with more than 10 people include:
- Adults over 60, especially menÂ
- Individuals with underlying health conditions like heart disease, lung disease (including asthma), diabetes, chronic kidney disease, chronic liver disease, endocrine and metabolic disorders, neurological, neurologic and neurodevelopment conditions
- Individuals who are pregnant or had a recent pregnancy
- Individuals with weakened immune systems such as individuals with IBD
