• Barrx procedure is performed in an outpatient setting.  Once you sign in, the nurse will take you to the admission room and take a brief history, get the list of your medications, check your vital signs and insert an IV catheter. 
• You will be escorted to the procedure room and monitors are placed to assess the heart rate, blood pressure, and breathing throughout the procedure. 
• Once you're asleep, the doctor will insert a flexible pipe (endoscope) into your mouth and down your oesophagus (food pipe). Your healthcare professional will use radiofrequency ablation to treat the abnormal cells in your esophagus when looking through the endoscope. Depending on the size of the area to be handled, the procedure will take anywhere from 30 to 60 minutes. the doctor will start the ablation procedure to extract the appropriate tissue.
• When you wake up after the procedure, you will be offered a solution to drink to help alleviate any chest discomfort or pain you may have.
•  It is normal to have chest pain following the procedure and therefore it is important to follow the medication regimen recommended by your doctor after the procedure.
